The Na+/H+ Exchanger NHX1 Controls H+ Accumulation in the Vacuole to Influence Sepal Color in Hydrangea macrophylla

Hydrangea macrophylla is popular for its unique physiological characteristics and changeable colors. Previous studies have shown that the pH of vacuoles sepal cells hydrangea affects color sepals. Located on vacuolar membrane, NHX1 an important H+ proton pump drives exchange metal ions. This environment by controlling accumulation in vacuole. In hydrangea, HmNHX1 gene has open reading frame 1626 bp encodes a total 541 amino acids. Bioinformatic analysis showed HmNHX1, which Na+/H+ exchanger, located membrane. Tissue-specific expression this treatment group was higher than control group. The ion flux colored were measured, results indeed exchanger. When measurements are combined, it can be seen regulates vacuole, ultimately affecting plant.
